Senior Specialist - Finish and Paint Process Engineering

Role Overview Vestas is a global leader in sustainable wind energy solutions, specialising in the design, manufacturing, installation, and servicing of wind turbines. As a Senior Specialist in Finish and Paint Process Engineering, you will be part of the newly formed Blades Process Engineering organisation based in Chennai, India. This co-located team is dedicated to embedding engineering expertise directly into the manufacturing value stream, enabling faster decision-making, deeper process ownership, and a culture of excellence, innovation, and accountability. Key Responsibilities - Design and optimise production processes with a focused scope on Finish and Paint operations for wind turbine blades - Develop detailed process requirements, specifications, and process flow documentation - Conduct AS IS state analysis and define future state roadmaps for process industrialisation and standardisation - Coordinate and support process optimisation initiatives across multiple manufacturing sites globally - Utilise digital tools including digital twins and data analytics platforms to drive performance improvements and enable data-driven decisions - Investigate and resolve production issues using structured problem-solving methodologies such as 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams, and FMEA - Apply continuous improvement principles including Statistical Process Control, Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and ensure final product quality - Collaborate with cross-functional teams and build a strong stakeholder network across cultures and time zones Required Qualifications - Master's degree in Engineering or an equivalent qualification - Green Belt Six Sigma certification or Advanced Manufacturing Process Analysis qualification - Approximately 10 years of experience in process engineering roles within manufacturing environments - Demonstrated experience in process requirements formulation, manufacturing process specification, and process flow creation - Strong background in data process analysis within a data-driven organisation - Proven track record in supporting optimisation and standardisation within manufacturing processes - Knowledge of composite materials including paint products, fibreglass, and epoxy resins used in production - Experience in Finish and Paint or general manufacturing process design and optimisation - Self-motivated, result-oriented professional with strong organisational discipline and willingness to spend time on the factory floor Why Join Us At Vestas, you will be part of a flat, multicultural, and international team working toward world-class results in the global renewable energy sector.
