Senior Engineer - Sheet Metal

Role Overview Flex, a globally recognized diversified manufacturing partner, is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer specializing in Sheet Metal to join its Chennai team. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside industry experts and contribute to the design, development, and optimization of sheet metal products and manufacturing processes. You will play a key role in driving engineering excellence across a dynamic and collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities - Develop and perform DFX analysis for sheet metal products and regularly update DFX rulebooks to reflect current standards - Define GD&T best practices aligned with actual manufacturing capabilities and design datums - Design welding, assembly, checking, and machining fixtures with detailed 3D assemblies and manufacturing drawings - Develop end-to-end manufacturing processes for sheet metal components including stamping, bending, forming, deep drawing, laser cutting, and welding - Prepare process flow diagrams, operation sheets, control plans, and PFMEA documentation - Evaluate manufacturing feasibility during the product design and development stages - Optimize production processes to minimize scrap, reduce cycle time, and lower overall manufacturing costs - Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to improve and refine existing processes Required Qualifications - BE or B.Tech in Mechanical or Production Engineering, or a Diploma in Tool and Die Making, with 4 to 6 years of relevant experience - Hands-on expertise in sheet metal server rack manufacturing and assembly processes - Proficiency in SolidWorks for fixture and gauge design - Strong knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and sheet metal manufacturing standards - Experience with DFX review and providing actionable recommendations - Excellent written and verbal communication skills are mandatory - Strong analytical, reporting, and decision-making abilities - Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment Why Join Us At Flex, your contributions are recognized and your career growth is actively supported in an inclusive, respectful, and innovative workplace.
