Senior Engineer - Sheet Metal

Role Overview Flex is a globally recognized diversified manufacturing partner that collaborates with market-leading brands to design, build, and deliver innovative products. We are hiring a Senior Engineer - Sheet Metal for our Chennai facility to strengthen our manufacturing engineering team and drive excellence in sheet metal processes. Key Responsibilities - Develop and perform DFX analysis for sheet metal products and regularly review and update DFX rulebooks - Define GD&T best practices aligned with actual manufacturing capabilities - Design welding, assembly, checking, and machining fixtures for sheet metal parts with detailed 3D assemblies and manufacturing drawings - Ensure all fixture designs align with part GD&T specifications and design datums - Develop manufacturing processes for sheet metal components including stamping, bending, forming, deep drawing, laser cutting, and welding - Prepare process flow diagrams, operation sheets, control plans, and PFMEA documentation - Define manufacturing feasibility during product design and development stages - Optimize processes to reduce scrap, cycle time, and overall manufacturing costs Required Qualifications - BE or B.Tech in Mechanical or Production Engineering, or a Diploma in Tool and Die Making with 4 to 6 years of relevant experience - Expertise in sheet metal server rack manufacturing and assembly processes - Hands-on experience in sheet metal DFX review and recommendations - Sound knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing standards and tooling - Proficiency in fixture and gauge design using SolidWorks - Strong understanding of GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis - Excellent written and verbal communication skills are mandatory - Strong analytical, reporting, and decision-making capabilities - Ability to work flexibly in a dynamic and fast-paced environment Why Join Us At Flex, you will have the opportunity to work in a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative environment where your contributions truly make a difference.
