Secondary Offer Engineer - Gas Insulated Switchgear

Role Overview Hitachi Energy is seeking a skilled Secondary Offer Engineer to join its Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) Secondary Offer Engineering team at the India Operations Centre (INOPC) in Chennai. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced electrical engineers with a strong background in secondary engineering for substations to contribute to cutting-edge power grid solutions. You will play a key role in supporting the sales and tendering process by delivering precise technical documentation and optimised engineering designs. Key Responsibilities - Support Sales and Tendering engineers in preparing tender-specific engineering documents and drawings for cost estimation and customer submission - Design and develop secondary engineering solutions for Gas Insulated Switchgears used in transmission and sub-transmission systems - Prepare panel layouts, schematic drawings, interlocking diagrams, mimic diagrams, SLDs, general arrangements, and other key deliverables for local control cubicles, protection panels, metering cabinets, and terminal interfacing cabinets - Carry out Bill of Material preparation, cost estimation, and AC-DC load calculations - Perform self-reviews and peer reviews of engineering documents to ensure quality compliance - Coordinate with Primary Engineering, Steel Structure Engineering, Project Management, and Production teams as required - Apply Design to Value (DtV) principles to develop optimised and cost-effective solutions aligned with customer requirements - Maintain and update tender documentation in accordance with established quality processes Required Qualifications - Bachelor of Engineering or Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering - 2 to 8 years of hands-on experience in tender or execution-based secondary engineering for substations - Proficiency in CAD tools including EPLAN, E3, and AutoCAD - Experience preparing and reviewing specifications and datasheets for control and protection systems, SCADA, and digital substations - Basic understanding of high voltage products and substation principles - Strong communication skills in English; proficiency in German, French, or Spanish is an added advantage - Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a cross-functional team environment Why Join Us Hitachi Energy is a global leader in electrification and sustainable energy solutions, with a century-long legacy of powering critical infrastructure across 60 countries.
