Digitalization SCM Experienced Professional

Role Overview Hitachi Energy is looking for a seasoned Supply Chain Management Specialist to join its Business Unit Service team in Chennai. In this role, you will bridge cross-functional teams with supply chain strategies, driving cost optimisation, quality improvement, and sustainable procurement practices. You will play a key part in ensuring that digital devices and solutions are sourced, produced, and delivered on time and within budget to project sites across the globe. Key Responsibilities - Collaborate with R&D, Project, Product Management, SCM category managers, transactional buyers, and supplier quality engineers to ensure timely and quality delivery of digital devices and solutions - Integrate supply chain knowledge into the R&D process to optimise cost, quality, and technical performance - Translate engineering requirements into actionable supply chain plans and coordinate cross-functional initiatives - Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with global suppliers while controlling response timelines and conducting benchmark studies - Identify supply chain risks and develop contingency plans to minimise operational disruptions - Negotiate and manage contracts for digital devices and solutions, including maintenance in SAP Ariba - Maintain clear and transparent communication across internal teams, external partners, divisions, and business units - Incorporate sustainability principles into supply chain operations in alignment with company goals - Ensure compliance with all applicable internal and external regulations, procedures, and guidelines Required Qualifications - Engineering degree from a recognised institution - Minimum 5 years of experience in supply chain management with a strong track record in international strategic sourcing - Experience working in an intercultural, multi-business environment with cultural sensitivity - Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills with proficiency in data analysis and forecasting - Ability to work effectively in a complex matrix organisation and inspire cross-functional teams - Willingness to travel approximately 10 percent of the time - Excellent written and spoken English with negotiation-level fluency Why Join Us Hitachi Energy is a global leader in electrification and sustainable energy technology, serving over three billion people across 60 countries with a workforce of more than 50,000 professionals. - Engineering degree from a recognised university - Minimum 5 years of supply chain management experience - Proven experience in international strategic sourcing - Familiarity with SAP Ariba for contract management - Strong data analysis and forecasting skills - Excellent negotiation and communication skills in English - Ability to manage supplier relationships across global markets - Experience in risk identification and mitigation planning - Comfortable working in a matrix and multicultural environment - Willingness to travel up to 10 percent of the time
