Research Engineer - Materials Science and Product Development

Role Overview Saint-Gobain Group in India is looking for a talented and driven Materials Research Engineer to join its R&D team. This is a mid-senior level full-time role focused on developing innovative insulation materials and driving product and process advancements. The ideal candidate will hold a postgraduate degree in Materials Science or Chemical Engineering and bring hands-on experience in product development, ideally within the insulation or mineral wool segment. Key Responsibilities - Design and develop new products aligned with business and customer requirements - Study and improve existing product designs to enhance performance, functionality, and application suitability - Collaborate closely with process and operations teams to scale up production and optimise manufacturing workflows - Apply technical expertise to lead innovation initiatives and troubleshoot product-related challenges - Utilise statistical methods and data analysis tools to improve process performance and product quality - Ensure adherence to global safety communication standards and protocols - Facilitate productive collaboration between R&D and process teams to foster an innovative working environment - Travel regularly to manufacturing plants and the R&D Centre in Chennai for project kick-offs, discussions, and progress meetings including international travel as required Required Qualifications - ME or MTech in Material Science or Chemical Engineering or a related field - 6 to 8 years of relevant experience in product and process development - Strong foundation in product design and development methodologies - Proficiency in statistical analysis and structured problem-solving techniques - Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills - Willingness to travel frequently across domestic and international locations - Ability to spend extended periods on-site at manufacturing plants Why Join Us Saint-Gobain is a global leader in sustainable construction and high-performance materials, offering a dynamic environment where innovation and collaboration thrive. - ME or MTech in Material Science or Chemical Engineering - 6 to 8 years of experience in product and process development - Experience in insulation materials especially mineral wool or stonewool preferred - Strong knowledge of product design and development methodology - Proficiency in statistical analysis and process data interpretation - Familiarity with New Product Development (NPD) methodology - Ability to manage multiple tasks independently and meet project deadlines - Excellent communication and cross-functional teamwork skills - Willingness to travel domestically and internationally including extended plant visits
