Offer Engineer - Gas Insulated Switchgear

Role Overview Hitachi Energy is seeking a skilled Offer Engineer specialising in Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) to join its India Operations Centre in Chennai. This is a mid-senior level, full-time opportunity for experienced engineers with a strong background in Primary Engineering for GIS Substations. You will be part of a high-impact team helping shape energy solutions for transmission and sub-transmission systems across global markets. Key Responsibilities - Support Sales and Tendering engineers by preparing tender-specific engineering documents and drawings for offer submissions - Prepare primary engineering drawings for GIS substations above 66kV including Gas SLDs, GIS layouts, cable tray layouts, earthing layouts, cabling overviews, and assembly overviews - Perform technical calculations such as system resistance, thermal loss, gas volume, earthing mat analysis, and cable calculations - Prepare accurate Bill of Materials and cost estimations based on BOM outputs - Conduct self-reviews and peer reviews of engineering documents to ensure quality and accuracy - Coordinate with Secondary Engineering, Steel Structure, Project Management, and Production departments as required - Apply Design to Value principles to deliver optimised solutions aligned with customer requirements - Maintain and update project and tender documentation in accordance with quality process standards - Ensure compliance with applicable internal and external regulations, standards, and procedures Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or Mechanical Engineering - 3 to 8 years of experience in tendering or execution of substation projects or high voltage product design - Proficiency in CAD tools including Creo and AutoCAD - Solid understanding of international standards such as IEC, IEEE, and ANSI - Strong knowledge of high voltage products and substation systems - Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English; knowledge of German, French, or Spanish is a plus - Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional team Why Join Us Hitachi Energy is a global leader in electrification with a workforce of over 50,000 professionals across 60 countries, dedicated to powering a sustainable energy future.
