Material Availability Analyst

Role Overview Caterpillar Inc., the world's leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, is looking for a Material Availability Analyst to join its Supply Chain and Logistics team in Chennai. This role is central to ensuring smooth material flow across manufacturing operations, from procurement planning to supplier coordination. You will work in a dynamic shift environment supporting global production goals. Key Responsibilities - Coordinate the flow of materials within the manufacturing facility and manage premium freight transfers to and from inventory or warehouse - Develop and execute material planning strategies for assigned product lines, ensuring all requirements are met within defined timelines - Schedule and control the release of materials while monitoring inventory levels at the plant, warehouse, and with critical suppliers - Build and follow up on procurement plan realization to ensure alignment with business objectives - Track and analyse supplier performance metrics and collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery as per requirements - Apply Manufacturing Requirements Planning (MRP) processes to optimise production cycles and ensure material and capacity availability Required Qualifications - Basic understanding of supply chain, inventory management, and distribution centre operations - Familiarity with MRP concepts, bills of materials, and production planning documentation - Analytical thinking skills with knowledge of tools and techniques used for business analytics and problem solving - Ability to communicate effectively with suppliers and internal stakeholders for negotiation and coordination - High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all tasks and outputs - Willingness to work in rotational evening or night shifts (4:00 PM to 12:30 AM or 6:00 PM to 2:30 AM) Why Join Us At Caterpillar, you are part of a global team committed to building a better, more sustainable world while enjoying a rewarding total rewards package that includes variable bonus potential, paid annual leave, flexi leave, and medical and insurance coverage from day one.
