Design Engineer Electrical

Role Overview BW Design Group is looking for a skilled Electrical Design Engineer to provide sustaining facilities electrical engineering design support for client site electrical distribution systems. This is a contract role based in Chennai where you will work across multiple projects involving power distribution, lighting, and low to medium voltage electrical systems in a manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities - Develop electrical designs for manufacturing power distribution and lighting systems - Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors on new construction and renovation projects - Review electrical design specifications, drawings, cost estimates, and budgets - Design low and medium voltage electrical distribution systems including MCCs, generators, transformers, low voltage substations, and UPS - Read and interpret design drawings and specifications across multiple concurrent projects - Maintain up-to-date knowledge of NEC codes and apply them throughout the design process Required Qualifications - Bachelor degree or Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering - Minimum 4 years of experience in low and medium voltage power, load flow analysis, and electrical engineering drawings in a manufacturing environment - Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD for creating design drawings and 3D models - Experience designing electrical power layouts, lighting layouts, wiring diagrams, cable trays, and electrical location layouts in Revit - Familiarity with MEP coordination, large capital projects, and Design/Build methodologies - Strong written and verbal technical communication skills including report generation and group presentations Why Join Us BW Design Group offers a collaborative environment where you will work on high-impact infrastructure projects alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams. - 4 plus years of experience in low and medium voltage power systems in a manufacturing environment - Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD for electrical design drawings and 3D models - Experience with electrical power layouts, lighting layouts, wiring diagrams, and cable tray design - Knowledge of load flow analysis and easy power tools - Experience working with MEP engineers and technicians - Familiarity with large capital projects involving Owners, General Contractors, and System Integrators - Understanding of Design and Build engineering and construction processes - Experience with facilities document control systems and electrical as-built drawings - Experience with project closeout documentation including construction specifications, O and M manuals, and submittals - Strong verbal and written technical communication skills - Bachelor degree or Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering
