Role Overview
Saint-Gobain Group in India is looking for a driven and technically sound Business Development Engineer to join their team in Chennai. This role is a fantastic opportunity for a mid-senior level professional to spearhead new business acquisition, manage customer relationships, and drive revenue growth across assigned markets. You will serve as a key bridge between the technical and commercial functions of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue new business development opportunities, conduct product trials at customer sites, and convert prospects into long-term clients
- Generate and manage bulk orders while maintaining accurate records of all trials and conversions
- Prepare and consolidate weekly reports including market mapping and competitive analysis
- Gather market intelligence, monitor competitor activity, and develop a deep understanding of customer requirements
- Track and follow up on receivables to ensure timely collection and healthy cash flow
- Manage order booking and ensure smooth processing from inquiry to fulfilment
- Address customer complaints promptly and act as a solution provider to maintain client satisfaction
- Lead commercial negotiations and represent the company at technical presentations and industry trade shows
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in business development, technical sales, or a related field within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to negotiate and close deals effectively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client networking and stakeholder management
- Proficiency in preparing reports and conducting market mapping exercises
- Ability to manage multiple accounts, track receivables, and coordinate across internal teams
