Automation Engineer

Role Overview Caterpillar Inc. is looking for an Automation Engineer to join its world-class engineering team in Chennai. In this role, you will assist in the design, development, and testing of onboard software for robotic platforms while collaborating closely with senior engineers to meet client expectations. Key Responsibilities - Collect and analyse customer experience data related to robotic platforms and prepare management reports - Document architecture specifications, software design descriptions, verification plans, test cases, and safety procedures - Use appropriate tools to debug, test, and maintain software and hardware systems for robotic tools - Support verification and validation processes for robotic software systems - Participate in the design and development of application software and algorithms for robotic platforms - Apply knowledge of artificial intelligence methodologies and programming techniques in a structured engineering environment Required Qualifications - Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science from an accredited institution - Working knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle and formal development methodologies - Familiarity with software product testing including functional, volume, and load testing - Proficiency in at least one programming language and associated development tools - Basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts and technologies - Strong technical troubleshooting skills across software, hardware, and application systems - Knowledge of problem-solving approaches and the ability to apply them in diverse operational scenarios Why Join Us At Caterpillar, you become part of a passionate global team of makers and problem solvers who are building a better world together.
