Assistant Manager Maintenance

Role Overview Saint-Gobain Group in India is looking for a skilled and experienced Assistant Manager Maintenance to join its manufacturing operations in Chennai. In this role, you will lead the maintenance function by supervising a team of technicians, ensuring all equipment and facilities are operating at peak efficiency. You will play a key part in keeping the plant compliant with safety standards while managing costs and operational readiness. Key Responsibilities - Oversee and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the maintenance team to ensure smooth operations - Develop, document, and implement standardised maintenance procedures across all plant systems - Conduct regular site inspections to identify issues, assess equipment condition, and schedule preventive maintenance - Prepare weekly and monthly maintenance schedules and assign tasks to team members based on priority and skillset - Recruit, onboard, and train new maintenance staff to build a competent and reliable workforce - Manage the maintenance budget, track expenditures, and identify opportunities to reduce costs without compromising quality - Monitor inventory levels of spare parts, materials, and tools to avoid downtime due to stock shortages - Ensure all maintenance activities comply with applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations - Maintain accurate maintenance logs and submit daily activity reports to senior management - Respond promptly to emergencies, equipment failures, and unplanned breakdowns to minimise production disruption Required Qualifications - Proven experience in a maintenance supervisor or assistant manager role within a manufacturing or industrial environment - Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and mechanical equipment - Demonstrated ability to plan, organise, and prioritise maintenance work effectively - Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team - Good verbal and written communication skills for reporting and cross-functional coordination - Familiarity with safety compliance standards and best practices in industrial maintenance Why Join Us Saint-Gobain is a globally respected leader in sustainable habitat and high-performance materials, offering a dynamic work environment with strong career growth opportunities.
