Role Overview
Standard Chartered India is seeking a seasoned finance leader to take on the role of Vice President Financial Control based in Chennai. This is a senior executive position within the Global Finance Services India team, responsible for end-to-end Legal Entity financial reporting, ledger close ownership, and building a high-performance Finance Control function. The VP will work in close partnership with Country CFOs, Product Control teams, and Group Finance to ensure accuracy, integrity, and compliance across all financial reporting obligations.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end Legal Entity ledger close and financial reporting including primary and secondary financial statement preparation in line with statutory and regulatory requirements
- Oversee balance sheet substantiation process and ensure timely identification, escalation, and remediation of risks and control issues
- Partner with Country and Group Finance teams to deliver transparency and analysis on balance sheet drivers and support local statutory and Group financial reporting
- Prepare and maintain KRI and KPI reporting and actively participate in control and risk forums for Legal Entity and Business segments
- Build and lead a centralised, standardised Finance Control operating model through targeted transitions and continuous process improvement
- Drive implementation of the bank's strategic finance transformation initiatives including systems, technology, and process modernisation
- Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams with clear succession planning, structured performance management, and strong people engagement strategies
- Represent Finance Control in service review meetings with CFOs and proactively manage operational risks, audit findings, and compliance obligations
- Ensure adherence to IFRS standards, internal accounting policies, and the Group's regulatory and business conduct framework
Required Qualifications
- Qualified Chartered Accountant with 12 or more years of relevant post-qualification experience
- Deep knowledge of IFRS and financial control and reporting practices within large global banking institutions
- Prior experience working in a GCC or shared services finance environment with end-to-end functional ownership
- Strong understanding of data management, data quality frameworks, and their role in business performance management
- Demonstrated ability to lead large, multi-cultural, multi-country finance teams in a complex organisational environment
- Expertise in balance sheet management, external financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and risk and controls
- Excellent stakeholder management and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence senior leadership decisions

Requirements
- Qualified Chartered Accountant with 12 plus years of experience
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial control reporting for global banks
- Experience in GCC or shared services finance setup
- End-to-end balance sheet management and substantiation expertise
- Risk and controls assessment and regulatory compliance knowledge
- Strong leadership and team development capabilities
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Data management and data quality understanding
- Change mindset with experience driving large-scale process and technology transformation
- Proficiency in English
