Job Description

Role Overview Standard Chartered India is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Officer in Trade Operations to join its Chennai team on a contract basis. This entry-level role is ideal for graduates with 1-2 years of banking or trade operations experience who are ready to contribute to a global financial institution. You will play a key role in ensuring accurate processing of trade transactions while maintaining the highest standards of compliance, customer service, and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities - Process trade finance documents accurately in line with statutory, regulatory, and internal operational guidelines - Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients to ensure prompt resolution of queries and business requests - Handle transactions based on criticality and timeliness standards as defined in the Departmental Operating Instructions - Monitor and meet business targets while ensuring full compliance with group and local policies - Identify and report suspicious transactions in accordance with the Group Money Laundering Prevention Policy - Comply with Group and Local Sanctions Policies and Procedures at all times - Identify opportunities for continuous process improvement using LEAN techniques and participate in quality and C3 initiatives - Manage key stakeholder relationships including country offices, regulators, team leads, and peers - Ensure leave planning is coordinated to avoid any impact on client service delivery Required Qualifications - Any graduate with 1-2 years of relevant experience in banking or trade operations - Working knowledge of banking products, back-office operations, and check processing - Understanding of anti-money laundering policies and problem management processes - Trade certifications such as CDCS, CSDG, or CTF are an added advantage - Strong customer focus with the ability to handle business transactions end to end - Commitment to upholding ethical standards, regulatory conduct, and group values Why Join Us Standard Chartered has been driving commerce and prosperity for over 170 years and is committed to building an inclusive, values-driven workplace where every individual can grow and thrive. Requirements

- Any graduate with 1-2 years of banking or trade operations experience - Knowledge of trade finance products and back-office operations - Familiarity with anti-money laundering policies and compliance procedures - Experience with check processing and customer-facing operations - Trade certifications like CDCS, CSDG, or CTF preferred - Strong problem management and process improvement skills - Ability to manage stakeholder relationships effectively - High ethical standards and commitment to regulatory compliance
