Tunnel Head

Role Overview Larsen and Toubro is looking for a highly experienced Tunnel Head to take on full technical and operational authority over large-scale underground tunneling projects. This is a senior leadership position that demands deep expertise in EPB TBM operations, geotechnical risk management, and multi-machine program delivery in complex urban environments. The ideal candidate will bring international best practices to drive safety, quality, and performance across all tunneling activities. Key Responsibilities - Provide overall technical authority for all tunneling works including EPB TBM drives, cross passages, shafts, and associated underground structures - Define tunneling strategies, methodologies, and sequencing suited for mixed ground and hard rock conditions - Oversee simultaneous operation of multiple EPB TBMs, monitoring productivity, reliability, and key performance indicators such as advance rates and machine utilization - Review and approve TBM performance parameters, ground conditioning strategies, cutterhead interventions, and recovery plans - Establish and enforce a strong safety culture aligned with international underground construction standards - Lead decision-making for complex geotechnical, operational, and TBM performance challenges including hyperbaric interventions - Support project management in contractual administration, claims, and change management related to tunneling works - Interface with the client, PMC, designers, TBM suppliers, and specialist subcontractors at a senior level - Lead, mentor, and develop a multinational tunneling team including Shift Tunnel Managers and Tunnel Shift Managers - Transfer international best practices and lessons learned to strengthen local project capability Required Qualifications - Extensive expertise in EPB TBM tunneling, preferably gained in urban metro environments - Proven experience managing large multi-machine tunneling programs in mixed ground and hard rock conditions - Hands-on experience with hyperbaric works, geotechnical risk management, and TBM performance optimization - Deep understanding of international tunneling standards, HSE systems, and quality management frameworks - Excellent leadership, cross-cultural communication, and decision-making skills Why Join Us Larsen and Toubro is one of India's most respected engineering and construction conglomerates, offering world-class projects and a platform to lead high-impact infrastructure development.
