Substation Design Electrical Engineer

Role Overview Live Connections is actively hiring experienced Substation Design Engineering professionals for multiple mid to senior level positions across Primary Design, Secondary Design, and Vendor Engineering functions. These roles are based across Chennai, Pune, Hyderabad, and Faridabad and fall under the EDRC domain. Candidates with a B.E. or B.Tech degree in Electrical or Electrical and Electronics Engineering are encouraged to apply. Key Responsibilities - Design and engineer AIS and GIS substations along with power distribution systems for primary substation projects - Prepare substation layouts, equipment layouts, earthing systems, and lightning protection designs - Develop cable routing plans, switchyard layouts, and detailed electrical design calculations - Create protection and control schemes including control schematics, relay coordination studies, and wiring diagrams for secondary design roles - Design and integrate SCADA and substation automation systems as part of secondary engineering deliverables - Review and approve vendor and manufacturer drawings, technical documents, and equipment submittals for vendor engineering roles - Coordinate with vendors on drawing submissions, compliance requirements, and technical evaluations - Support installation, commissioning, and project execution teams with engineering guidance and issue resolution - Prepare and review BOMs, engineering deliverables, and technical specifications across all design functions Required Qualifications - B.E. or B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or Electrical and Electronics Engineering - 3 to 7 years of experience for Design Engineer roles in Primary Substation - 7 to 10 years of experience for Design Lead roles in Secondary Substation - 5 or more years of experience for Design Lead roles in Vendor Engineering - Hands-on knowledge of AIS and GIS substation design principles - Proficiency in protection and control systems, SCADA, and substation automation - Experience with earthing and lightning protection design, switchyard layouts, and cable routing - Knowledge of batteries, chargers, UPS systems, transformers, and cable sizing - Familiarity with software tools such as ETAP, PSCAD, CYMGRD, and Dialux Why Join Us This is an excellent opportunity to work on large-scale substation engineering projects with a well-established recruitment partner that connects skilled professionals to leading organisations in the power and energy sector.
