Job Description

Role Overview Planys Technologies is a deep-tech company building mission-critical robotic and digital systems for defence and strategic infrastructure, including unmanned underwater vehicles, maritime platforms, and ruggedised systems for armoured vehicles. As a Senior Research and Products Engineer specialising in Robotics, you will drive research, development, and commercial-scale deployment of advanced inspection and survey technologies across underwater, maritime, and land-based robotic platforms. This is a high-impact role at the intersection of cutting-edge engineering research and real-world defence applications. Key Responsibilities - Lead end-to-end research and development of NDT techniques including ultrasonics, electromagnetics, and acoustics for robotic platforms - Assess and develop survey modalities such as bathymetry, sub-bottom profiling, imaging sonars, and scour estimation - Develop, test, and deploy control algorithms and vehicle software systems for autonomous navigation and survey operations - Explore and integrate emerging vision-based modalities including Laser, photogrammetry, and LiDAR - Conduct rigorous literature reviews to support feasibility studies and lead field trials and pilot projects of prototype inspection systems - Coordinate cross-departmental projects involving business development, product development, operations, and maintenance teams - Publish and present research papers at conferences, contribute to journals, and file patents on developed technologies - Plan and execute field implementation projects from logistics and technical perspectives, including preparation of standard operating procedures, data acquisition templates, and training materials - Prepare project reports, operation manuals, and provide post-delivery technical and warranty support Required Qualifications - Master's degree or PhD in a relevant engineering or applied sciences discipline - Demonstrated experience in experimental or numerical research - Strong foundation in algorithms, mathematics, and physics - Proficiency in programming and robotics control systems - Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear documentation and presentations - Logical reasoning and problem-solving aptitude - Prior experience interacting with OEMs, inspection service providers, or defence stakeholders is an advantage Why Join Us Planys Technologies is globally recognised for its work in strategic infrastructure and is now building an enduring presence in India's defence sector with indigenous unmanned systems for the Army, Navy, and Coast Guard. Requirements

- Master's or PhD in Robotics, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field - Hands-on experience in experimental or numerical research - Strong knowledge of NDT techniques such as ultrasonics, electromagnetics, and acoustics - Familiarity with survey modalities including bathymetry, sub-bottom profiling, and imaging sonars - Experience with robotics control systems and autonomous navigation algorithms - Proficiency in programming relevant to robotics and control - Understanding of LiDAR, photogrammetry, and laser-based sensing technologies - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Ability to lead cross-functional projects and manage external OEM relationships - Experience in field trials, pilot projects, and technical documentation
