Senior Geophysicist

Role Overview Planys Technologies, a pioneer in underwater inspection and survey solutions in India, is looking for an experienced Senior Geophysicist to strengthen its growing survey and geophysics vertical. This role supports subsea asset mapping and inland water surveys for leading PSU energy companies and EPC contractors, leveraging indigenously developed ROV and AUV technology. The position offers an opportunity to work at the forefront of robotic and data-driven subsea exploration across infrastructure, energy, and industrial sectors. Key Responsibilities - Plan and execute river crossing and inland surveys including SBP, SSS, Bathymetry (SBES/MBES), and DGPS operations - Operate and mobilize survey equipment in inland and nearshore environments while ensuring compliance with client specifications and QA/QC protocols - Interpret sub-bottom profiler data including sediment layers, strata, and buried objects, and analyze sonar imagery for bedforms and obstructions - Generate riverbed profiles, burial depth analyses, and crossing feasibility reports - Prepare and review geophysical interpretation reports and act as a qualified signatory for client submissions - Coordinate with clients, consultants, and EPC contractors throughout the project lifecycle - Maintain documentation in line with tender requirements and industry standards including IHO S-44 where applicable - Execute or supervise SSS, MBES, and CIPL surveys and support integration with ROV-based inspection surveys - Drive continuous improvement in survey processes and maintain calibration logs and data traceability Required Qualifications - M.Sc or M.Tech in Geophysics, Applied Geophysics, or Marine Geophysics, or B.Tech in Geology with relevant experience - 3 to 8 years of total experience with a minimum of 3 years in river, inland, or nearshore surveys - Signatory-level expertise in Sub-Bottom Profiler (SBP) survey and interpretation - Signatory-level competency in geophysical reporting and sign-off - Independent-level proficiency in Bathymetry (SBES/MBES) and Side Scan Sonar (SSS) - Hands-on experience with DGPS and positioning systems - Proficiency in survey software such as Hypack, Qinsy, SonarWiz, or equivalent - Knowledge of sediment classification, stratigraphy, and river morphology - Experience working with EPC contractors and a track record of 10 to 15 completed projects - Strong technical reporting, interpretation, and client-facing communication skills Why Join Us Planys Technologies offers a dynamic and innovation-driven work environment where you will contribute to cutting-edge underwater survey missions across India's energy and infrastructure landscape.
