Senior Geophysicist

Role Overview Planys Technologies, India's foremost underwater inspection and survey company, is hiring a Senior Geophysicist to strengthen its growing survey and geophysics vertical. This is a full-time, field and office role focused on subsea asset mapping, river crossing surveys, and inland water geophysical operations for leading PSU energy companies and EPC contractors. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on expertise in sub-bottom profiler interpretation, bathymetric surveys, and geophysical reporting at signatory level. Key Responsibilities - Plan and execute river crossing and inland geophysical surveys including Sub-Bottom Profiler, Side Scan Sonar, SBES and MBES Bathymetry, and DGPS positioning - Operate, mobilize, and maintain survey equipment in inland and nearshore environments while ensuring safety and QA/QC compliance - Interpret sub-bottom profiler data to identify sediment layers, strata, and buried objects and generate riverbed profiles, burial depth analysis, and crossing feasibility reports - Analyze sonar imagery for bedforms and obstructions and produce integrated geophysical interpretation combining SBP, SSS, and Bathymetry datasets - Prepare and review survey and geophysical interpretation reports as a qualified signatory for client submissions - Coordinate with clients, consultants, and EPC contractors for technical discussions and project delivery - Execute or supervise SSS, MBES, and CIPL surveys and support integration with ROV-based inspection missions - Maintain documentation, calibration records, and data traceability in line with IHO S-44 and tender standards - Drive continuous improvement in survey methodologies and internal processes Required Qualifications - M.Sc or M.Tech in Geophysics, Applied Geophysics, or Marine Geophysics, or B.Tech in Geology with substantial relevant field experience - 3 to 8 years of total experience with a minimum of 3 years specifically in river, inland, or nearshore survey environments - Proven expertise in SBP interpretation and bathymetric surveys at independent or signatory level - Proficiency in survey software such as Hypack, Qinsy, SonarWiz, or equivalent platforms - Working knowledge of IHO standards and experience with EPC contractor environments - Portfolio of 10 to 15 completed geophysical survey projects, with project details to be submitted alongside the CV - Hands-on experience with SBP systems, DGPS, sediment classification, and stratigraphic analysis Why Join Us Planys Technologies is at the forefront of underwater robotics and geophysical survey innovation in India, offering you the opportunity to work on landmark infrastructure and energy projects with indigenously developed ROV and AUV technology.
