Senior Engineer II - Manufacturing Design (Foundry Pattern and Core Box)

Role Overview Hubbell Incorporated is hiring a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with deep expertise in pattern and core box design for foundry applications. This full-time role based in Chennai involves developing and optimizing tooling designs for both ferrous and non-ferrous castings using advanced CAD and simulation software. The ideal candidate will bring strong foundry process knowledge, GD&T proficiency, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and customers to deliver high-quality manufacturing solutions. Key Responsibilities - Create detailed part drawings in compliance with ASME Y14.5M 1994 standards and ensure timely project completion - Design and optimize gating and riser systems based on casting simulation results - Perform pattern and core box tool design following established foundry practices for both ferrous and non-ferrous castings - Conduct mold flow and simulation analysis using tools such as Magma or Flow 3D Cast to validate and improve designs - Collaborate with customers to gather functional specifications and translate them into accurate technical designs - Work effectively with cross-functional teams including design, production, and quality departments - Support troubleshooting activities on sand casting tools to achieve required part quality standards - Maintain and update project reports and documentation in a timely and accurate manner Required Qualifications - Minimum 6 years of hands-on experience in foundry pattern design and core box engineering for ferrous and non-ferrous applications - Proficiency in CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD - Working knowledge of casting simulation tools including Magma or Flow 3D Cast - Strong understanding of casting processes including high pressure molding and jolt lines - Solid command of GD&T principles and their application in both design and manufacturing drawings - Ability to perform part modelling, detailing, and manufacturing feasibility assessments - Good mathematical, analytical, and reasoning skills - Strong written and verbal communication skills along with good documentation practices - Basic electrical knowledge is an added advantage Why Join Us Hubbell Incorporated is a global leader in electrical and utility infrastructure solutions with a legacy of innovation dating back to 1888, committed to enabling grid modernization and sustainable energy transitions. - 6+ years of experience in foundry pattern and core box design - Experience with ferrous and non-ferrous casting processes - Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD - Knowledge of casting simulation tools such as Magma or Flow 3D Cast - Strong GD&T skills as per ASME Y14.5M 1994 - Understanding of high pressure molding and jolt line processes - Experience with sand casting tool troubleshooting - Good communication, documentation, and collaboration skills - Basic electrical knowledge preferred
