Senior Designer - Mechanical

Role Overview Barry-Wehmiller is a globally recognised manufacturer and engineering consulting firm serving the packaging, corrugating, sheeting, and paper-converting industries. Operating through its Global Competency Centre in India, the company brings together centres of excellence in engineering, software development, sourcing, and shared services to support divisions worldwide. Key Responsibilities - Create detailed 3D CAD models and associated 2D manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks in line with GD&T principles - Develop and release Bill of Materials and manufacturing drawings adhering to ISO, DIN, and ANSI standards including ASME Y14.5 - Study and understand existing machine designs and functions to support new product development and design enhancement activities - Work closely with cross-functional and international teams to meet project schedules and deliver error-free engineering outputs - Manage EPDM vault for document control and ensure adherence to CAD standards across all design deliverables - Participate in short-term travel to Barry-Wehmiller divisions in the US and Europe for training and project support Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering - Five to eight years of hands-on experience in mechanical design and drafting using SolidWorks CAD software - Proficiency in 3D modelling and 2D detailing with strong knowledge of GD&T as per ASME Y14.5 - Familiarity with electromechanical purchase parts such as sprockets, belts, and related components - Experience with industrial machinery including printing, packaging, converting, textile, or paper equipment is preferred - Knowledge of AutoCAD and Creo is an added advantage - Proficiency in MS Office tools including Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint - Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English with strong interpersonal and teamworking abilities Why Join Us Barry-Wehmiller offers a collaborative and empowering work environment rooted in Truly Human Leadership, where every team member is valued and supported to reach their full potential. - Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design and drafting using SolidWorks - Strong 3D CAD modelling and 2D manufacturing drawing skills with GD&T knowledge - Experience with ASME Y14.5 standards for manufacturing drawings - EPDM vault user experience - Knowledge of ISO, DIN, and ANSI CAD standards - Familiarity with electromechanical components and machine building - Experience in new product development - Proficiency in AutoCAD and Creo preferred - Working experience in OEMs preferred - Strong communication skills in English - Ability to work independently and as part of a team - Willingness to travel internationally for training and project support
