Graduate Engineer Trainee - Mechanical Design Support

Role Overview Barry-Wehmiller is a globally recognised engineering consulting and manufacturing technology company serving the packaging, corrugating, sheeting, and paper-converting industries. As a Graduate Engineer Trainee, you will work under the guidance of senior engineers to support design activities, documentation, and production assistance for industrial machinery. This is a contract-based learning role suited for freshers eager to build a strong foundation in mechanical design and manufacturing processes. Key Responsibilities - Complete assigned SolidWorks Composer training modules and adhere to Manufacturing SOP standards - Study and develop a thorough understanding of existing machine mechanisms and assemblies - Support the creation of manufacturing work instructions using SolidWorks and SolidWorks Composer - Assist in design modification tasks including CAD modelling, manufacturing drawings, and BOM creation using SolidWorks 2023 and above with EPDM - Provide basic production and testing support as assigned by the Engineering Leader - Report directly to the Engineering Leader and contribute to multiple Barry-Wehmiller divisions as required Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Production, Automobile, Aeronautical, or Mechatronics Engineering - 0 to 1 year of experience including internships, academic projects, or industrial training - Basic CAD modelling and detailing skills using SolidWorks (mandatory) - Fundamental knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and manufacturing processes - Awareness of OEM mechanical components used in special purpose machines - Basic exposure to pneumatics, sensors, and industrial electrical components - Familiarity with common engineering materials such as alloy steels and aluminium - Basic understanding of GD&T - Proficiency in MS Office tools including Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint - CSWA certification in SolidWorks is an added advantage Why Join Us Barry-Wehmiller is a purpose-driven organisation that values people as its greatest asset, and this role offers freshers an excellent launchpad to gain real-world engineering exposure within a globally respected company.
