Graduate Engineer Trainee - Mechanical Design Support

Role Overview Barry-Wehmiller is a globally recognised engineering consulting and manufacturing technology company serving industries such as packaging, corrugating, sheeting, and paper-converting. This Graduate Engineer Trainee role is a contract-based, entry-level opportunity designed for fresh mechanical engineering graduates to gain hands-on exposure to industrial machinery design and manufacturing support under the mentorship of experienced engineers. The position covers learning, design assistance, documentation, and production support for machines used in printing, packaging, converting, textile, and paper industries. Key Responsibilities - Complete assigned SolidWorks Composer training modules and adhere to Manufacturing SOP standards - Study and develop an understanding of existing machine mechanisms and assemblies - Support the creation of manufacturing work instructions using SolidWorks and SolidWorks Composer - Assist in CAD model creation, manufacturing drawing preparation, and BOM development using SolidWorks 2023 and above with EPDM - Support design modification activities under technical guidance from senior engineers - Provide basic production and testing support as assigned by the Engineering Leader Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Production, Automobile, Aeronautical, or Mechatronics Engineering - 0 to 1 year of experience including academic projects, internships, or industrial training - Hands-on knowledge of SolidWorks CAD modelling and detailing is mandatory - Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, GD&T, and mechanical engineering fundamentals - Awareness of pneumatics, sensors, industrial electrical components, and common engineering materials - Familiarity with MS Office tools including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams - CSWA certification in SolidWorks is an added advantage Why Join Us Barry-Wehmiller is a purpose-driven organisation with a strong people-first culture, giving fresh engineers a meaningful launchpad to build real-world skills alongside nearly 12,000 team members across the globe.
