Graduate Engineer Trainee

Role Overview Barry-Wehmiller is a globally recognised engineering consulting and manufacturing technology company serving the packaging, corrugating, sheeting, and paper-converting industries. This Graduate Engineer Trainee role is an entry-level contract position designed for fresh mechanical engineering graduates who are eager to learn and contribute to real-world industrial machinery projects. The role operates under the guidance of senior engineering leaders and spans design, documentation, and production support activities. Key Responsibilities - Complete assigned SolidWorks Composer training modules and follow Manufacturing SOP standards - Study and understand existing machine mechanisms, assemblies, and engineering principles - Support the creation of manufacturing work instructions using SolidWorks and SolidWorks Composer - Assist in CAD model creation, manufacturing drawing preparation, and BOM development using SolidWorks 2023 and above with EPDM - Participate in design modification activities under technical guidance from senior engineers - Provide basic production and functional testing support as assigned by the engineering team Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Production, Automobile, Aeronautical, or Mechatronics Engineering - 0 to 1 year of experience including internships, academic projects, or relevant industrial training - Proficiency in basic CAD modelling and detailing using SolidWorks (mandatory) - Fundamental knowledge of manufacturing processes and mechanical engineering principles - Basic awareness of pneumatics, sensors, industrial electrical components, and OEM mechanical parts - Familiarity with GD&T concepts and common engineering materials such as alloy steels and aluminium - Working knowledge of MS Office tools including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams - CSWA certification in SolidWorks is an added advantage Why Join Us Barry-Wehmiller fosters a people-centric culture that empowers team members to grow through meaningful work and collaborative learning.
