Job Description

Role Overview Shell is looking for an experienced RA PAR and Controller Lead to join its Downstream Finance Operations team in Chennai. This is a senior leadership role responsible for end-to-end Reporting and Accounting processes across the Downstream business portfolio, covering controlling, accounting, financial reporting, and planning and appraisal functions. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned finance professional who thrives in complex, fast-paced environments and can drive alignment across multiple stakeholders. Key Responsibilities - Lead a team of up to 10 finance professionals delivering end-to-end R&A support including controlling, accounting, reporting, and management information - Own monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting processes for entities and businesses in scope, ensuring timely, complete, and accurate Group Financial Returns and Local Statutory submissions - Act as the primary interface between Finance Operations R&A and Downstream business finance leaders and leadership teams - Own and resolve reporting issues, providing clear financial guidance and steers to relevant stakeholders - Oversee efficiency of R&A processes and effectiveness of the underlying financial control framework - Support preparation of the annual Business Plan and quarterly latest estimates, including operational, economic, and financial KPIs - Deliver insightful performance analysis incorporating external perspectives to support decision-making and continuous improvement - Ensure full support for internal audits, reviews, and remediation actions including controls, financials, and SIA reviews - Champion continuous improvement initiatives and support global projects in the PAR and controllership space, including new system implementations - Build team capability through coaching, effective workload coordination, and a focus on sustainable delivery and high engagement Required Qualifications - Recognised accounting qualification such as CIMA, CA, MBA, or equivalent professional certification in a finance-related discipline - University degree in finance, accounting, or a related field - 10 or more years of experience in financial reporting, controlling, and planning and appraisal functions - Proven experience leading finance or project teams in a matrix or large multinational organisation - Strong business partnering and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all organisational levels - Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills - Experience working in dynamic or ambiguous environments with the ability to manage change and competing priorities - Strong understanding of financial and management reporting, performance metrics, and value drivers - High attention to detail with the ability to deliver under pressure and meet tight deadlines Why Join Us At Shell, you will work alongside talented finance professionals on one of the most significant energy transition journeys in the world, gaining access to diverse career opportunities, world-class training programmes, and a values-led culture that champions inclusion, integrity, and continuous personal and professional growth.

Requirements

- Accounting qualification such as CIMA, CA, or MBA in a finance-related discipline - 10 or more years of experience in financial reporting and controlling - Experience leading finance teams in a large or matrix organisation - Strong stakeholder management and business partnering skills - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Proficiency in financial and management reporting processes - Experience with planning, appraisal, and forecasting processes - Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver under tight deadlines - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail - Familiarity with internal audit support and financial control frameworks
