Python Developer

Role Overview BNP Paribas is seeking an experienced Python Developer to join its Conduct, Control & Surveillance IT team in Bengaluru. In this role, you will lead the design, development, and support of compliance surveillance models on the SONATA 2.0 platform. You will collaborate with compliance teams to build and optimize data-driven surveillance models, assuring alignment with regulatory policies and security standards. Key Responsibilities - Design, develop, test, and support Python-based compliance applications and model enhancements - Build database queries and APIs using Python, SQL, and PL/SQL for Oracle or SQL Server databases - Work with compliance teams to implement, tune, and validate trade-surveillance systems - Formulate high-quality test plans, executing unit, regression, integration, and code-review testing - Mentor junior team members on software development standards, scripting, and security policies Required Qualifications - Strong Python programming background with OOP, Pandas, and NumPy - Deep knowledge of Oracle/SQL databases, PL/SQL, and SQL scripting - Familiarity with PowerShell or Windows batch scripting - Understanding of SDLC methodologies (Agile/Waterfall), CI/CD, JIRA, and Git - Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment Why Join Us BNP Paribas is a leading global bank offering a collaborative and inclusive culture. - Strong proficiency in Python development including OOP, generators, and magic methods - Hands-on experience with Pandas, NumPy, and other data science libraries - Proficient in SQL and PL/SQL (Oracle or SQL Server) and database APIs - Experience with Windows batch or PowerShell scripting - Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Agile/Waterfall methodologies, code reviews, and TDD - Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
