Paralegal - Patent and IP Docketing

Role Overview Saint-Gobain Research India is looking for a skilled Patent Paralegal and Docketing professional to join its in-house IP team. This is a full-time mid-senior level position that requires at least 1 to 2 years of core patent paralegal experience and thorough knowledge of Indian patent prosecution and PCT procedures. The role demands a high degree of autonomy, accountability, and strong written and oral communication skills, with responsibilities split equally between core IP activities and non-IP administrative support. Key Responsibilities - Assist patent agents and counsel in managing patent and design portfolios across Indian and international jurisdictions - Handle Indian patent filings including responses to FER, PCT applications, pre-grant and post-grant oppositions, and working statements - Coordinate with external foreign agents and track foreign jurisdiction applications with minimal supervision - File and prosecute design applications in India and monitor local and global patent and journal publications - Manage patent and design renewals and annuities and liaise with patent office professionals for status checks and follow-ups - Conduct data retrieval using tools such as InPass, Espacenet, Patentscope, and other IP databases - Draft, review, and handle legal documents including powers of attorney, assignments, notice letters, and petitions - Manage electronic and physical document filing, archiving, invoicing, and docketing tasks - Schedule meetings, prepare agendas, take minutes, and provide travel support for the IP team - Assist with budgeting processes and coordinate with the finance team for vendor payments Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree and or a paralegal certificate with 1 to 2 years of core patent paralegal experience - Degree or certificate in patent law is required - Strong knowledge of Indian patent prosecution procedures and PCT filing requirements - Experience with electronic IP filing systems and IP docketing tools such as Anaqua or Memotech - Proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint - Excellent docketing skills, both online and offline, with strong organisational and multitasking abilities - Exposure to Asia Pacific national phase filings is an added advantage Why Join Us Saint-Gobain is a global leader in sustainable construction and high-performance materials, and joining its India research team offers a dynamic environment to grow your IP career.
