Officer Trade Operations

Role Overview Standard Chartered India is looking for a driven and detail-oriented Officer in Trade Operations to join its Chennai team on a contract basis. This entry-level role is ideal for graduates with 1-2 years of banking or trade finance experience who are eager to grow within a globally reputed institution. You will be responsible for managing trade transactions end to end while maintaining the highest standards of compliance, accuracy, and customer service. Key Responsibilities - Process trade finance documents accurately in line with statutory, regulatory, and internal operational guidelines - Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers to ensure prompt and effective resolution of queries and business requirements - Handle transactions based on criticality and timeliness standards as outlined in Departmental Operating Instructions - Continuously improve productivity and identify process simplification opportunities using LEAN techniques - Comply with Group Money Laundering Prevention Policy and report any suspicious transactions to the line manager - Uphold the Group Sanctions Policy and adhere to all applicable local and international regulatory requirements - Identify and mitigate operational risks on an ongoing basis and escalate conduct or compliance matters as needed - Actively participate in quality and continuous improvement initiatives within the organization - Manage stakeholder relationships effectively including country offices, regulators, peers, and team leads Required Qualifications - Any graduate with 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in banking or trade operations - Relevant trade certification such as CDCS, CSDG, or CTF will be an added advantage - Working knowledge of banking products, check processing, and back office operations - Familiarity with anti-money laundering policies and problem management processes - Strong customer focus and ability to work collaboratively within a team - Good understanding of compliance frameworks and risk management practices Why Join Us Standard Chartered Bank is a globally respected institution with over 170 years of heritage, committed to driving commerce and prosperity through diversity and inclusion.
