Officer Trade Operations

Role Overview Standard Chartered India is looking for an Officer in Trade Operations to join its Chennai team on a contract basis. This entry-level role is ideal for graduates with 1-2 years of banking or trade finance experience who are eager to grow within a globally recognised financial institution. The position demands a strong commitment to accuracy, compliance, and client-centric service delivery across trade finance operations. Key Responsibilities - Process trade finance documents accurately in line with regulatory, statutory, and internal operational guidelines - Build and sustain effective working relationships with clients to ensure timely and professional responses to business queries - Handle transactions based on criticality and timeliness standards as outlined in the Departmental Operating Instructions manual - Comply with Group Money Laundering Prevention Policy and report any suspicious transactions to the line manager - Adhere to Group and Local Sanctions Policies and Procedures at all times - Identify and mitigate operational risks on a continuous basis - Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives using LEAN techniques and support quality and C3 programmes - Maintain positive working relationships with peers, superiors, and cross-functional teams Required Qualifications - Any graduate degree with 1-2 years of relevant banking or trade operations experience - Trade certification such as CDCS, CSDG, or CTF is preferred and applicable to the role - Working knowledge of banking products, back office operations, and anti-money laundering policies - Demonstrated ability in problem management, check processing, and customer-focused service delivery - Strong understanding of compliance, risk management, and regulatory conduct standards Why Join Us Standard Chartered has been driving commerce and prosperity for over 170 years and offers a culture that values inclusion, continuous learning, and ethical conduct.
