Role Overview
Barclays is seeking an experienced Middle Office Assistant Vice President to serve as the first line of defense across all derivative product operations at its Chennai centre. This senior role combines strategic oversight with hands-on accountability for trade integrity, regulatory compliance, and operational resilience. The position requires close collaboration with Front Office, Technology, Infrastructure, and client-facing teams to ensure robust controls and timely execution across the full trade lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage end-to-end trade lifecycle processes including trade processing, position reconciliations, and balance sheet account substantiations
- Drive strategic roadmap delivery including process re-engineering, workflow optimisation, and efficiency initiatives aligned to Global Markets Operations objectives
- Monitor Trade and Working Capital operations to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal governance frameworks
- Lead reconciliation management across automated and manual workflows using established reconciliation tools
- Manage risk and governance obligations through RCSA, audit, and control frameworks, including remediation planning
- Collaborate across business functions to align Trade and Working Capital processes with broader organisational goals
- Develop and present performance reports on Trade and Working Capital operations to senior internal stakeholders
- Identify industry trends and implement best practices to continuously improve operational effectiveness
- Advise and influence decision-making at the leadership level while coaching and appraising team members against set objectives
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience in Investment Banking Operations with strong exposure to Derivative Middle Office or Trade Control functions
- Proven expertise in trade and position lifecycle management, exception resolution, and balance sheet substantiation
- Strong risk and control mindset with a demonstrated track record in managing audits, RCSAs, and governance frameworks
- Solid understanding of derivative products across asset classes including Rates, Equities, Structured, and Exotic products
- Experience driving automation and strategic change initiatives in complex operational environments
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional coordination skills
- Prior exposure to Middle Office Operations, Sales Support, or Product Control is desirable

Requirements
- Extensive Investment Banking Operations experience with Derivative Middle Office exposure
- Strong knowledge of trade lifecycle management and position reconciliations

- Deep understanding of derivative products including Rates, Equities, Structured, and Exotic instruments
