Lead System Engineer

Role Overview GE Vernova is looking for an experienced Lead System Engineer to join its Power Conversion team at the Chennai site. This is a high-impact role suited for a technically driven professional with deep expertise in power conversion systems and a passion for delivering complex engineering solutions across global projects. You will work closely with cross-functional and international teams to support project execution and drive technical excellence. Key Responsibilities - Support business verticals in creating and reviewing system solutions as part of the order-to-remittance process, ensuring technical fitness and risk management - Lead end-to-end project execution by analyzing customer contracts and preparing specifications for vendors and internal stakeholders - Carry out basic and detailed engineering for variable speed drive systems, converter duty transformers, MV/LV motors, MV/LV switchgear, and power and signal cables - Prepare technical documentation as per contractual requirements and review vendor documentation - Perform and review power system design and studies across various industries and domains - Identify technical risks and develop appropriate mitigation plans - Propose and implement improvements in processes, tools, and system solutions in coordination with the leadership team - Liaise with Platform Engineering, Technology, Value Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to support project delivery - Ensure full compliance with company and customer EHS policies and procedures - Foster relationships with other GE business entities to maximize synergy benefits Required Qualifications - Masters or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a reputed college or university - Minimum 10 to 12 years of experience in engineering design and power system studies involving VSD, transformers, motors, and switchgear - Experience in system integration within multi-discipline projects - Strong knowledge and application of international standards - Familiarity with marine classification society rules such as ABS, DNV, LR, and BV for equipment certification - Proficiency in MS Office applications - Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills - Proficiency in simulation tools such as MATLAB, ETAP, EDSA, PSCAD, SKM, or EMTP is an added advantage - Knowledge of French or German language is an added advantage Why Join Us GE Vernova offers a collaborative global work environment with relocation assistance and the opportunity to work on cutting-edge power conversion solutions that make a real impact across industries worldwide.
