Client Tax Service Officer

Role Overview Citi is looking for a Client Tax Service Officer to join its newly established Client Tax Services team in Chennai. This is a client-facing role within the Private Banking division where you will take full ownership of client tax documentation, manage tax-related queries, and drive process improvements to enhance the overall client experience. You will work closely with internal teams including Front Office Bankers, Tax Operations, Client Onboarding, and Corporate Tax, as well as directly with Ultra High Net Worth clients and their advisors. Key Responsibilities - Support the setup and operations of the new Client Tax Services team - Serve as the primary liaison for tax-related queries from clients and internal banking teams - Manage and maintain W-Series and CRS tax forms, ensuring all documentation is valid and up to date - Build and manage relationships with UHNW clients, Tax Advisors, Financial Advisors, and Accountants - Draft and issue internal and external communications including client responses and tax update notices - Develop new processes and systems to improve efficiency and client experience - Improve tax form solicitation processes to increase response rates and reduce rejected submissions - Identify functional gaps, highlight associated risks, and implement effective solutions - Produce management information reports to track service levels, client requests, and team productivity metrics - Effectively manage risk and compliance situations within your area of responsibility Required Qualifications - Minimum 5 years of total experience in the financial services industry - At least 2 years of experience in a client services role within financial services - Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience - Strong knowledge of investment products, banking, and credit instruments - Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools - Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly - Prior experience in a front or middle office environment with direct client interaction - Experience defining and monitoring KPIs and SLAs - Understanding of US and Non-US Tax regulations is a distinct advantage - Background in Private Banking or Wealth Management is preferred Why Join Us Citi is one of the world's most globally connected financial institutions, offering professionals a platform to grow across diverse functions and geographies.
