Java Microservices Tech Lead - Vice President

Role Overview Citi is looking for a seasoned Applications Development Technology Lead Analyst to join its Technology team in Chennai. This is a senior-level, full-time opportunity for an experienced Java and Microservices architect who can lead complex application development initiatives and drive the design of scalable, cloud-native systems. The ideal candidate will bring a strong blend of full-stack engineering expertise, hands-on leadership capability, and a passion for building high-performance enterprise applications. Key Responsibilities - Lead the design, development, and delivery of robust Java-based microservices and cloud-native applications - Architect horizontally scalable, highly available, and low-latency systems using Spring Boot, Kafka, MongoDB, and Oracle - Develop and maintain full-stack web applications with React on the front end and Java or Python on the back end - Design and implement high-performance RESTful and GraphQL APIs following modern architectural standards - Manage CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, Maven, Gradle, Docker, and OpenShift - Collaborate with cross-functional teams using Agile methodologies and tools like JIRA - Champion test automation across unit, integration, and end-to-end testing to maintain high code quality - Mentor team members and guide technical decisions across the software development lifecycle - Leverage AI tools to enhance and streamline development workflows Required Qualifications - Minimum 10 years of software development experience with strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, React, Oracle, Kafka, and MongoDB - Deep knowledge of microservices and service-oriented architectures including REST and GraphQL - Proficiency in cloud-native development and container orchestration using Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, or Serverless platforms - Strong understanding of data structures, object-oriented principles, and modern application architecture patterns - Experience with NoSQL database modeling and scaling in MongoDB or similar document databases - Solid command of SQL and PL/SQL with working knowledge of relational database management systems - Hands-on experience with version control systems including GitHub Enterprise and Bitbucket - AWS experience is a strong advantage - Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline; Master's degree preferred Why Join Us Citi is one of the world's most globally connected financial institutions, offering a collaborative and inclusive work environment where technology professionals can work on meaningful, large-scale systems that impact millions of customers worldwide.
