Job Description

Role Overview Expleo Group is looking for a skilled Supplier Quality Development Engineer with deep expertise in plastic automotive components including bumper systems, injection-molded parts, and painted plastic assemblies. This is a mid-senior level full-time role based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, ideal for professionals with a strong background in automotive supplier quality management, APQP/PPAP methodologies, and supplier development programs. The position requires hands-on experience in driving quality assurance across the supplier base and ensuring compliance with globally recognized automotive standards. Key Responsibilities - Evaluate, qualify, and continuously monitor suppliers producing injection-molded and painted plastic automotive components - Conduct supplier process audits, capability assessments, and quality system evaluations to ensure manufacturing readiness - Lead APQP activities for new product introductions and review and approve PPAP submissions including Part Submission Warrants - Drive root cause analysis using structured problem-solving tools such as 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, Pareto Analysis, and SPC - Develop and execute supplier capability improvement plans including coaching on injection molding, surface finish, and painting process controls - Track supplier quality KPIs including PPM, defect rates, on-time delivery, and Cost of Poor Quality, and present performance reports to management - Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Purchasing, Program Management, and Manufacturing teams to support sourcing and design review activities - Ensure supplier compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, FMEA, Control Plans, SPC, and MSA requirements Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline - 8 to 10 years of supplier quality experience in the automotive or manufacturing sector - Proven hands-on experience with automotive bumpers, injection-molded plastic parts, and painted plastic components - Strong working knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PSW, FMEA, SPC, MSA, and Control Plans - Solid understanding of IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 quality management systems - Proficiency in root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies - Exposure to Lean and Six Sigma practices for quality and cost improvement - Experience with multi-shot injection molding, gas-assisted molding, or sequential molding is a plus - Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is an added advantage Why Join Us Expleo Group offers a dynamic and collaborative work environment where quality professionals can make a real impact across global supply chains. Requirements
