Senior Project Engineer - Primary (OPC)

Role Overview Linxon, a joint venture combining AtkinsRéalis project management expertise and Hitachi Energy's deep technological knowledge, is looking for a Senior Project Engineer - OPC to join its GETS Chennai Engineering Team. This role is central to delivering high-quality engineering solutions for international transmission and distribution substation projects. The selected candidate will work as an individual contributor, applying proven methods and technologies to execute complex engineering assignments across multiple projects simultaneously. Key Responsibilities - Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures to deliver project assignments efficiently and within contract specifications - Develop tender engineering deliverables within tight timelines while maintaining high quality standards - Ensure completeness of assigned engineering packages and verify correct functioning of the overall substation system - Conduct inter-discipline checks and document all results in the project-specific storage area - Identify and resolve problems that arise during the engineering development phase - Maintain detailed records of all engineering changes and communicate project-specific impacts to the engineering team - Coordinate and clarify technical issues with engineers, sub-contractors, and suppliers within the assigned scope - Provide technical support during installation and commissioning activities and collaborate with site teams when required - Prepare and manage project documentation, work plans, and cost estimates within your area of responsibility - Ensure full compliance with Linxon and client engineering guidelines, quality standards, and safety requirements throughout the project lifecycle - Contribute observations to the risk and opportunity register on an ongoing basis Required Qualifications - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Engineering - 10 to 14 years of hands-on experience in substation design with strong focus on HV equipment and overall system design - Sound knowledge in engineering of AIS and GIS transmission and distribution substations up to 500kV - Knowledge of BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems); prior experience on BESS projects is an added advantage - Familiarity with ANSI and IEEE standards for substation engineering is preferred - Working knowledge of NESC, NFPA 70, NFPA 780, and NFPA 850 standards is desirable Why Join Us Linxon offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing, forward-thinking company that is shaping energy solutions for sustainable connectivity across the globe.
