Senior Attorney

Role Overview IBM is seeking a Senior Attorney to join the India and South Asia legal team, providing comprehensive legal advice and support to IBM's domestic businesses in India and South Asia, as well as supporting IBM's global delivery missions. You will work with IBM's two primary Business Units, IBM Consulting and IBM Technology, advising on complex commercial engagements and contracts with government and commercial entities across multiple industries including finance, telecommunications, health, transport, and logistics. Key Responsibilities - Advise and negotiate commercial contracts with government and commercial entities for IT services, software, and cloud solutions across India and South Asia - Provide legal support to multiple business functions including procurement, security, real estate, human resources, and finance on regulatory compliance matters - Handle contractual disputes, litigation, intellectual property issues, workplace relations, privacy, and cybersecurity matters - Ensure compliance with IBM policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements across the region - Work autonomously on legal matters with reducing supervision as familiarity with IBM's business increases - Develop and implement process improvements to enhance legal function performance and overall business efficiency Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in law with eligibility to practice law in India - Minimum 9 years of experience practicing law either in-house, at a law firm, or in a combination of both - Deep expertise in negotiating IT contracts with government and commercial entities for services, software, and cloud solutions - Proven experience providing legal advice on privacy, cybersecurity, intellectual property, and regulatory compliance issues - Familiarity with Indian government procurement policies and procedures - Strong commitment to integrity and ethical conduct with demonstrated initiative in process improvement Why Join Us Join IBM's dynamic legal team supporting global technology and consulting services across India and South Asia. - Qualified to practice law in India - 9 or more years of legal experience - Deep experience in IT contract negotiation with government and commercial entities - Expertise in privacy, cybersecurity, intellectual property, and regulatory compliance - Knowledge of Indian government procurement policies - Ability to work autonomously with strong ethical and integrity standards - Experience in litigation and disputes preferred - IT sector experience preferred - Prior in-house legal experience with multinational company preferred
