Job Description

Role Overview The AR Associate manages accounts receivable operations for healthcare revenue cycle, ensuring timely resolution of insurance balances and claim payments. This role requires comprehensive knowledge of healthcare billing processes, HIPAA compliance, denial management, and coordination with payers, patients, and internal clients to optimize revenue collection and reduce outstanding balances. Key Responsibilities - Review and resolve outstanding insurance balances by identifying issues preventing claim payment finalization and coordinating with payers, patients, and clients - Analyze Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and insurance denials at claim level to identify trends and recommend process improvements - Trend data and analyze first pass denial rates to develop solutions for improving overall accounts receivable performance and reducing claim aging - Ensure all assigned workflow items are completed within established turnaround times while maintaining quality standards and compliance requirements Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree from any discipline - Minimum 12 months of hands-on experience in healthcare accounts receivable or denial management - Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations, privacy laws, information access and release procedures - Solid understanding of medical insurance types including HMO, PPO, Medicare, Medicaid, and private payers Why Join Us Optum is a leader in healthcare technology and services with a strong commitment to revenue cycle optimization. Requirements

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent - 12 months plus experience in healthcare accounts receivable - Knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations - Understanding of medical insurance types HMO PPO Medicare Medicaid - Strong MS Office proficiency especially Excel and Outlook - Excellent verbal and written communication skills with neutral accent - Ability to analyze EOBs and identify denial trends - Strong keyboard and typing skills - Critical thinking and problem solving abilities
