Capital Markets Business Consultant, BFS Consulting

As a Capital Markets Business Consultant within the Banking and Financial Services team, you will bridge the gap between business objectives and technology delivery across trading, asset servicing, and investment operations. This is a high-impact role suited for professionals with strong domain expertise in capital markets and hands-on experience as a Product Owner or Business Analyst in an agile environment. Key Responsibilities - Drive business and technology alignment across capital markets domains including investment banking, asset and wealth management, securities services, trading, clearing and settlement, and collateral management - Own and manage the product backlog in close collaboration with the Product Lead and Technology Owner, including backlog creation, prioritisation, and refinement - Lead requirement elicitation, gap analysis, scope definition, stakeholder management, sprint planning, and sprint reviews - Write clear and detailed user stories that address both business and technical needs, covering feature development, production stability, security, and resiliency - Create and maintain key documentation including Business Requirement Documents, Functional Requirement Documents, use case specifications, workflows, and implementation guides - Test and accept stories in alignment with defined acceptance criteria and project goals Required Qualifications - 4 to 14 years of experience in capital markets consulting or a related financial services domain - Strong working knowledge of financial instruments including equities, bonds, mutual funds, and derivatives such as futures and options - Hands-on experience as a Product Owner or Business Analyst with proven backlog management skills - Proficiency in both Agile and Waterfall SDLC methodologies - Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality functional and business requirement documentation - Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills across technical and business teams Why Join Us Cognizant offers a collaborative and innovation-driven consulting environment where you will work alongside global experts to solve complex challenges for leading financial institutions. - 4 to 14 years of experience in capital markets or financial services - Domain knowledge in trading, clearing and settlement, collateral management, and asset servicing - Experience with equities, bonds, mutual funds, and derivatives - Proven Product Owner or Business Analyst experience with backlog ownership - Proficiency in requirement elicitation, gap analysis, and stakeholder management - Strong story writing skills for business and technical requirements - Ability to create BRDs, FRDs, use case documents, and implementation guides - Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall SDLC methodologies - Experience in sprint planning, sprint reviews, and backlog refinement
