Structural Engineer - Buildings and BIM Delivery

Role Overview COWI is looking for a skilled Structural Engineer with a strong grasp of BIM workflows to join its rapidly growing Buildings and Industry team in Chennai. You will be part of a 130+ member team in India, working alongside global experts on landmark building and industrial projects such as Copenhagen Airport Terminal 3, New Bispebjerg Hospital, and LEGO Manufacturing Facilities. This is an exciting opportunity to lead both the technical and digital delivery aspects of complex structural projects from feasibility through to detailed design. Key Responsibilities - Deliver structural design across all phases including feasibility studies, design basis development, and detailed design for buildings and industrial projects - Ensure alignment between design intent and BIM models in accordance with LOD requirements and BIM Execution Plans - Lead multidisciplinary coordination efforts and resolve interface issues across project teams - Review and manage design and BIM deliverables to ensure quality and compliance standards are met - Plan, control, and monitor project activities, resources, and timelines to meet deadlines and KPIs - Mentor and guide junior engineers and BIM modelers within the team - Track project progress, identify risks, and take corrective action to maintain delivery commitments Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Master's degree in Structural Engineering - 4 to 8 years of experience in structural design with exposure to BIM delivery - Hands-on experience with RCC, steel, precast, and composite structures - Proficiency in structural analysis tools such as FEM-Design, Robot, ETABS, or equivalent - Strong working knowledge of Revit Structures and Navisworks for model-based coordination - Sound understanding of BIM processes, LOD standards, and coordination workflows - Familiarity with international design standards including Eurocode, BS EN, ACI, or similar - Experience with precast and prefabricated structures is an added advantage - Knowledge of 3D rebar modelling in Revit and tools like Solibri, Dynamo, or Python is desirable Why Join Us At COWI, you become part of a globally respected engineering consultancy that champions sustainability, collaboration, and continuous development.
