Software Team Lead

Role Overview KLA is a global semiconductor equipment leader whose technologies power virtually every electronic device manufactured today. The ICOS Vision Systems division, headquartered in Leuven, Belgium, specialises in automated inspection and sorting tools for finished integrated circuit packages and is now building a strong engineering presence in Chennai. As Software Team Lead, you will combine hands-on technical leadership with people management to deliver high-quality software for complex, high-impact semiconductor systems while collaborating with global counterparts across multiple regions. Key Responsibilities - Lead, mentor, and coach a team of software engineers, driving career development, skill growth, and performance management - Act as the primary point of contact between the Chennai team and global stakeholders, ensuring seamless integration into the international organisation - Oversee technical follow-up, code quality, and execution excellence across all project deliverables - Foster a team culture built on ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement - Occasionally travel to customer sites and global offices to support product delivery and strengthen cross-regional partnerships - Translate complex requirements from global stakeholders into actionable engineering plans and timelines Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree with at least 8 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 6 years, or a Doctorate with 3 years of related work experience - Strong hands-on expertise in modern C++ development - Solid understanding of object-oriented design principles, design patterns, and UML - Familiarity with C#, WPF, Python, Git, and Scrum methodologies is an added advantage - Experience or affinity with machine vision or imaging applications is a plus - Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities with the capacity to work independently - Proficiency in English for effective cross-functional and global collaboration Why Join Us KLA invests over 15 percent of its annual revenue back into research and development, giving engineers here the resources and challenge to work on truly cutting-edge problems that shape the future of electronics.
