Senior Data Engineer

Role Overview KLA is a global leader in semiconductor manufacturing technology, powering virtually every electronic device produced today. The Senior Data Engineer role sits within KLA's Information Technology group and is focused on building scalable, production-grade data pipelines that connect SAP source systems with Snowflake-based analytics platforms, enabling data-driven decision-making across the enterprise. Key Responsibilities - Design and implement robust data ingestion pipelines from SAP systems such as S/4HANA, ECC, BW, and HANA into Snowflake using enterprise-approved integration tools - Build and maintain incremental loads using CDC, batch pipelines, and near-real-time ingestion strategies to support diverse business needs - Develop and optimize ELT and ETL pipelines leveraging Snowflake features including Snowpipe, Streams and Tasks, and Dynamic Tables - Create and maintain curated dimensional models, data vault models, conformed dimensions, and reusable fact tables for cross-functional analytics use - Implement data quality checks, reconciliation controls, and exception handling for SAP extracts to ensure data integrity - Tune queries and pipelines for performance using clustering strategies, caching, pruning, warehouse sizing, and workload separation techniques - Monitor Snowflake consumption and recommend cost controls such as warehouse scheduling, auto-suspend and auto-resume settings, and resource monitors - Apply security best practices including RBAC, masking policies, row access policies, and secure data sharing patterns - Partner with governance teams to maintain metadata, lineage, glossary alignment, and compliance standards across the data platform - Collaborate with BI developers, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate reporting requirements into scalable, well-documented datasets - Contribute to Agile ceremonies, deliver iterative improvements, and participate in production support rotations as required Required Qualifications - 5 to 7 years of experience in data engineering with hands-on development in Snowflake - Strong experience integrating SAP data into analytics platforms or cloud data warehouses - Advanced SQL skills including complex joins, window functions, and query optimization in cloud warehouse environments - Experience building production-grade pipelines using orchestration tools such as Informatica or ADF, and transformation tools such as dbt or Snowflake SQL scripting - Proficiency in Python or a comparable language for automation, data processing, and pipeline utilities - Solid understanding of data modeling concepts including dimensional modeling, normalization, and data vault fundamentals - Experience with CI/CD practices including Git, code reviews, and deployment pipeline management across dev, test, and prod environments - Bachelor's degree with 5 years of related experience, or a Master's degree with 3 years of related experience, or a Doctorate with relevant exposure Why Join Us KLA invests more than 15 percent of its annual sales back into research and development, making it one of the most innovation-focused companies in the semiconductor industry. - 5 to 7 years of data engineering experience with hands-on Snowflake development - Strong SAP data integration experience covering S/4HANA, ECC, BW, and HANA source systems - Advanced SQL skills including window functions, complex joins, and cloud warehouse query tuning - Experience with orchestration tools such as Informatica or Azure Data Factory - Proficiency in dbt, Snowflake SQL scripting, or stored procedures for data transformation - Python proficiency for pipeline automation and data processing tasks - Knowledge of dimensional modeling, normalization, and data vault concepts - Experience with CI/CD workflows using Git and deployment pipelines - Understanding of SAP functional domains such as FI/CO, MM, SD, and PP - Familiarity with Snowflake security features including RBAC and masking policies - Experience with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker is a plus - Palantir Foundry experience is a nice-to-have advantage
