Software Development Engineer

Role Overview KLA is a global leader in diversified electronics for the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem, powering virtually every electronic device in the world. As a Software Development Engineer within the ICOS Vision Systems division, you will be part of an international Agile Scrum team building robust, maintainable software for automated component inspection systems used by the world's top chipmakers. This is a mid-senior level full-time opportunity based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, offering exposure to cutting-edge semiconductor inspection technology and occasional international travel. Key Responsibilities - Design and develop software using modern C++ and C# for image acquisition, processing, and control systems - Build and maintain WPF-based user interfaces for advanced inspection tools - Collaborate within an international Scrum team following agile best practices and standard methodologies - Contribute to the development and implementation of image processing algorithms and optical inspection techniques - Participate in customer visits to understand real-world application requirements and deliver solutions - Stay current with the latest software engineering techniques through team training and online learning platforms Required Qualifications - Minimum Master's degree in Engineering with at least 3 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience, or Doctorate with relevant exposure - Extensive hands-on programming experience in modern C++ - Solid understanding of object-oriented design, design patterns, and UML - Familiarity with C#, WPF, Python, GIT, and Scrum methodologies is an added advantage - Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills - Ability to work independently as an individual contributor without close supervision - Proficiency in English is required - Prior experience or interest in vision applications or semiconductor inspection is a plus Why Join Us KLA invests more than 15% of its annual sales back into research and development, giving employees the resources and environment to solve genuinely hard engineering problems alongside world-class physicists, engineers, and data scientists.
