Should Costing Engineer - Electronics

Role Overview Cyient is looking for an experienced Should Costing Engineer specializing in Electronics to join their Bengaluru team. This mid-senior level role is focused on leading cost engineering activities, building comprehensive should-cost models, and driving value engineering initiatives across electronic components, PCB manufacturing, and EMS processes. You will work closely with cross-functional and global teams to unlock cost optimization opportunities and influence key sourcing and business decisions through data-driven analysis. Key Responsibilities - Interpret schematics, engineering drawings, and product specifications to assess component and assembly requirements - Perform teardown analysis and develop detailed Bills of Materials for electronic products - Build and maintain should-cost models for PCBs, electronic components, and box-build assemblies - Identify low-cost BOM alternatives and validate cost estimates across multiple geographies and suppliers - Estimate costs covering materials, fabrication, assembly, testing, and overhead elements - Identify cost drivers and actively support target costing and competitive benchmarking initiatives - Analyze PCB manufacturing, EMS processes, and component selection for cost efficiency - Lead cost estimation projects, VAVE initiatives, and provide support for new product introductions - Collaborate with global teams on localization, sourcing strategies, and cost optimization programs - Mentor team members and manage stakeholder communication effectively Required Qualifications - Bachelor Degree or Diploma in Electronics Engineering or a related technical discipline - 8 to 10 years of total experience with a minimum of 3 to 4 years in the Electrical, Electronics, Switchgear, or EMS industry - Strong expertise in should-cost estimation and benchmarking for electronics products - Good knowledge of PCB manufacturing, assembly processes, and EMS environments - Proficiency in developing Excel-based cost models and understanding product cost structures - Experience in value engineering, VAVE, and cost productivity initiatives - Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder influencing skills - Knowledge of logistics, supply chain operations, and localization strategies - Familiarity with digital cost platforms and sustainability-driven cost optimization approaches Why Join Us Cyient is a globally recognized engineering and technology solutions company offering a collaborative and innovation-driven work environment.
