Senior Technical Writer

Role Overview KLA is a global leader in semiconductor manufacturing technologies, powering the electronic devices that shape modern life. We are looking for an experienced Senior Technical Writer based in Chennai to join our KLA Services team in a hybrid capacity. This role blends deep technical knowledge with exceptional documentation expertise to produce high-quality content for both internal teams and external customers across the globe. Key Responsibilities - Develop comprehensive technical documentation including service manuals, installation guides, maintenance procedures, troubleshooting guides, part replacement instructions, and upgrade documentation for field service engineers and technical support teams - Conduct interviews and collaborative review meetings with engineering, product, and technical staff to gather accurate data and convert complex information into clear, user-friendly documents and web-based publications - Create and manage documentation using XML, DITA, Ixiasoft CCMS, MS Word, and Oxygen XML editors while adhering to company documentation standards, templates, and quality assurance guidelines - Drive project management activities including stakeholder reviews, action trackers, risk assessments, and regular progress updates in a complex matrix environment with multiple direct and indirect managers - Participate in hands-on technical activities such as equipment installs, upgrades, tool builds, and troubleshooting sessions to maintain and strengthen product-level technical skills - Monitor documentation errors and change requests and implement corrections quickly; support testing and validation of new procedures on KLA equipment - Deliver training courses on selected products and provide technical expertise support to field, manufacturing, and product support functions as required Required Qualifications - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Science, or Mathematics - Proven experience of 10 or more years in technical content development, documentation, and procedures for engineering, manufacturing, or servicing of complex equipment - Strong proficiency in XML, DITA, Ixiasoft CCMS, MS Word, and Oxygen XML editor - Minimum 5 years of preferred technical experience in product design, manufacturing, installation, or semiconductor equipment support - Direct experience with KLA overlay metrology equipment or equivalent semiconductor metrology and measurement equipment is highly desirable - Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders, maintain trackers, and deliver regular updates - Excellent command of error-free English with the ability to translate complex technical content for both technical and non-technical audiences - Flexibility to work across time zones, collaborate with global teams, and travel for business when required Why Join Us At KLA, you will work alongside world-class physicists, engineers, and problem-solvers on technologies that are literally powering the future of electronics. - 10+ years of experience in technical documentation for engineering or semiconductor equipment - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Science, or Mathematics - Proficiency in XML, DITA, and Ixiasoft CCMS - Strong skills in MS Word and Oxygen XML documentation editors - 5+ years of technical experience in semiconductor equipment support or product design - Experience with KLA overlay metrology or equivalent semiconductor metrology equipment - Strong project management skills in a matrix environment - Excellent written English for technical and non-technical audiences - Good MS Excel skills for maintaining trackers and documentation - Ability to collaborate across geographies and time zones - Flexibility to travel and support various technical assignments as needed
