Senior Technical Writer

Role Overview KLA is a globally recognised leader in semiconductor manufacturing technologies, powering virtually every electronic device in the world. We are looking for an experienced Senior Technical Writer based in Chennai to join our KLA Services team and take ownership of high-quality technical documentation for complex semiconductor equipment. This is a hybrid role that blends hands-on technical expertise with advanced documentation skills. The ideal candidate will work seamlessly across engineering, field service, and product support teams to produce clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation for both internal and external audiences. Key Responsibilities - Develop, write, edit, and validate technical documentation including service manuals, maintenance guides, installation procedures, troubleshooting guides, and upgrade instructions for field service and technical support engineers - Conduct interviews and review meetings with engineers, subject matter experts, and stakeholders across multiple departments to gather and verify content for documentation - Research and translate complex technical information into clear documents and web-based publications suited to both technical and non-technical users - Follow and uphold documentation best practices, company quality standards, formatting templates, and style guides across all deliverables - Support testing and validation of new procedures on KLA equipment, identify gaps, and collaborate with engineers to incorporate necessary changes - Apply strong project management practices to assigned documentation projects, maintain action trackers, assess risks, provide regular stakeholder updates, and drive decisions in a complex matrix environment - Participate in technical activities such as product installs, tool builds, upgrades, and troubleshooting to maintain and grow product knowledge - Contribute to training course development and delivery on selected products when required - Work flexibly across time zones to collaborate with remote and global teams Required Qualifications - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Science, or Mathematics - Proven track record of 10 or more years in technical documentation for engineering, manufacturing, or servicing of complex equipment - Strong portfolio of documentation samples demonstrating writing quality and technical depth - Proficiency in MS Word and Oxygen XML editors; hands-on experience with XML, DITA, and Ixiasoft CCMS is highly desirable - Preferred 5 or more years of direct technical experience in product design, manufacturing, installation, or servicing of semiconductor equipment - Direct experience with KLA overlay metrology equipment or equivalent semiconductor metrology and measurement systems is a significant advantage - Demonstrated project management capability in a multi-stakeholder matrix environment - Good MS Excel skills for maintaining trackers and project documentation - Exceptional English writing skills for both technical and general audiences - Willingness to travel for business and flexibility to grow into complementary roles such as trainer Why Join Us At KLA, you will be part of a company that invests heavily in innovation and fosters a collaborative, inclusive work culture where complex problems are tackled every day.
