Senior Software Engineer

Role Overview KLA is a global leader in semiconductor manufacturing technologies, and its IT division plays a central role in driving business productivity and innovation. The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for building and maintaining software systems that enable AI-driven capabilities across products and internal platforms. Key Responsibilities - Design and develop backend services and APIs that integrate AI and ML capabilities into enterprise applications, including inference endpoints and workflow automation - Implement business logic around AI outputs such as validation, confidence handling, fallback behaviors, and human-in-the-loop patterns - Build integration layers to connect AI services with enterprise systems and various data sources - Own end-to-end delivery of complex features and components, including task breakdown, effort estimation, and on-schedule delivery - Write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code with appropriate software abstractions - Build robust unit and integration tests and ensure features meet performance, reliability, and security standards - Instrument services with logging, metrics, and tracing, and actively support production monitoring and incident resolution - Apply responsible AI practices including transparency, logging, and guardrails in line with established team standards Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience - 5 to 7 years of professional software engineering experience delivering production-grade applications and services - Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Python or C# - Proven experience building APIs and services, working with databases, and deploying via CI/CD pipelines - Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals including data structures, debugging, testing, and code quality - Hands-on experience supporting AI or ML-enabled applications such as integrating inference services or building orchestration around model outputs - Familiarity with LLM application patterns including prompt orchestration, RAG basics, and tool or function calling Why Join Us At KLA, you will be part of a global team of engineers, physicists, and data scientists working on technologies that power virtually every electronic device in the world. - 5 to 7 years of professional software engineering experience - Proficiency in Python, C#, or a comparable modern programming language - Experience building and deploying REST APIs and backend services - Familiarity with databases and CI/CD pipelines - Experience integrating AI or ML inference services into production applications - Knowledge of LLM application patterns such as RAG and prompt orchestration - Strong grasp of software engineering fundamentals including testing and code quality - Exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP is a plus - Experience with containerization tools like Docker or Kubernetes is an advantage - Familiarity with event-driven systems and observability tooling
