Senior LLM and Agentic AI Engineer - Assistant Vice President

Role Overview Citi is seeking a highly skilled Senior AI Engineer to design, build, and scale next-generation AI-powered digital experiences for one of the world's leading global banks. This is a hands-on technical role focused on delivering production-grade Generative AI, Agentic AI, Conversational AI, and Machine Learning solutions that drive customer engagement, automate complex workflows, and enable personalised experiences at scale. Key Responsibilities - Design and deploy enterprise-grade Generative AI applications using LLMs such as GPT, Claude, or Gemini - Build and maintain Agentic AI solutions leveraging frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, and CrewAI - Develop multi-agent systems to automate customer journeys and streamline business workflows - Implement advanced prompt engineering techniques, evaluation frameworks, and AI guardrails to ensure high-quality outputs - Design and optimise Retrieval-Augmented Generation architectures and integrate vector databases with enterprise knowledge repositories - Build scalable backend services, REST APIs, and cloud-native microservices using Java and Python - Monitor model performance, manage inference costs, and enforce AI governance and observability standards in production - Collaborate closely with architects, product managers, and business stakeholders to deliver measurable, high-impact AI solutions Required Qualifications - 8 to 11 years of overall software engineering experience with at least 2 years specifically in GenAI or LLM application development - Hands-on expertise with GPT, Claude, Gemini, or comparable large language models - Practical experience with AI agent frameworks including LangChain, LangGraph, or CrewAI - Strong working knowledge of Retrieval-Augmented Generation and vector database technologies - Proficient in Java and Python with experience building production-ready REST APIs and microservices - Familiarity with cloud platforms and modern DevOps or software development practices - Exposure to MLOps, recommendation engines, or conversational AI platforms is a strong advantage - Knowledge of financial services, digital banking, or wealth management domains is preferred Why Join Us At Citi, you will have the opportunity to build AI-powered products that directly serve millions of customers across global markets, placing you at the intersection of financial services and cutting-edge technology.
