Senior Java Developer

Role Overview Citi is looking for a skilled Senior Java Developer to join its Technology team in Chennai. This is an intermediate-level applications development role where you will actively contribute to the design, implementation, and enhancement of application systems. You will work closely with cross-functional technology teams and stakeholders to deliver robust, scalable, and secure software solutions. Key Responsibilities - Develop and maintain applications using Java 1.8 and above, J2EE, Spring Boot, Spring Batch, microservices, REST APIs, and JSON - Write unit and integration tests using JUnit and mocking frameworks, and conduct performance testing - Work within CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Git, BitBucket, Artifactory, Jira, Confluence, and Collaborate - Execute Unix/Linux shell scripting and commands as part of day-to-day development tasks - Deploy and manage containerised applications using Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift - Design and build responsive, user-friendly web interfaces using Angular or similar UI frameworks - Identify system vulnerabilities, conduct code analysis, testing, and debugging to ensure application security - Serve as a subject matter expert and mentor to junior developers and analysts - Assess business decisions with consideration for risk, compliance, and regulatory standards - Recommend and implement solutions by applying technical experience and sound judgement Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience - Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in the financial services industry - Proven track record in an applications development role at an intermediate or senior level - Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly - Demonstrated problem-solving ability and sound decision-making skills - Ability to work under pressure, manage competing deadlines, and adapt to changing requirements Why Join Us Citi is one of the world's leading global banks with a strong presence across markets, offering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
