Senior Engineer - Java / Jakarta EE

Role Overview CGI is looking for a seasoned Java Senior Engineer with 8 or more years of experience to lead the design, architecture, and delivery of enterprise-grade applications. You will play a pivotal role in shaping technical strategy and collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams to build scalable, secure, and high-performance software solutions. Key Responsibilities - Design and implement new application features in an Agile and Scrum-based development environment - Define and own the overall technical architecture, providing direction and guidance to the development team - Manage the scalability roadmap and technical infrastructure to ensure timely and quality delivery - Conduct thorough code reviews and enforce adherence to coding standards and architectural best practices - Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across distributed enterprise systems - Collaborate with product management, stakeholders, and team members to align technical solutions with business goals - Drive adoption of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, automation, and cloud-native architectural patterns - Own deliverable quality across all dimensions including functionality, performance, security, and usability Required Qualifications - Expert-level knowledge of Java and J2EE or Jakarta EE technologies - Deep experience in designing and developing enterprise applications using Jakarta EE standards - Strong proficiency in design patterns, EJB, JPA, and core enterprise Java frameworks - Hands-on experience building RESTful web services using JAX-RS or Spring MVC Rest - Solid working knowledge of SQL and relational database design - Experience with Confluent Kafka or similar event-streaming platforms for high-throughput messaging - Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems, and static code analysis tools - Strong debugging and problem-solving capabilities in complex distributed environments - Preferred experience with cloud-native architectures including containerization and Kubernetes - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering Why Join Us At CGI, you are not just an employee but a Partner and owner from day one, sharing in the collective success of a globally respected IT consulting firm.
