Senior DevOps Engineer

Role Overview Citi is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer with 5 to 10 years of hands-on experience to join its technology team in Chennai. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in cloud infrastructure, container orchestration, and CI/CD automation to drive operational excellence across enterprise-wide systems. You will play a key leadership role in shaping DevOps culture, mentoring teams, and ensuring the reliability and scalability of mission-critical platforms. Key Responsibilities - Design, implement, and manage robust CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub, Ansible, Tekton, and Harness to enable rapid and secure software delivery - Deploy and operate containerised workloads using Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift with advanced scaling and orchestration strategies - Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Infrastructure as Code tools including Terraform and Ansible - Build and maintain comprehensive observability solutions using Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, Splunk, AppDynamics, and Jaeger - Collaborate closely with Java and Spring Boot development teams to optimise application deployments and performance - Manage distributed messaging systems such as Apache Kafka and API gateway solutions like Apigee - Provide technical advisory and architectural guidance on tooling, methodologies, and system resilience strategies - Leverage AI and Generative AI techniques to enhance DevOps workflows and accelerate troubleshooting - Perform advanced Linux system administration and shell scripting in Bash and Python for automation tasks - Proactively identify risks, performance bottlenecks, and security vulnerabilities and drive data-driven mitigation plans Required Qualifications - 5 to 10 years of experience in a DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering role within enterprise environments - Deep knowledge of containerisation and orchestration platforms including Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift - Strong proficiency in CI/CD pipeline design and tools such as GitHub Actions, Tekton, and Harness - Hands-on experience with IaC tools like Terraform and Ansible - Expert-level Linux/Unix administration with strong Bash and Python scripting skills - Solid understanding of Java, J2EE, Microservices, Spring Boot, and Spring Cloud ecosystems - Experience with monitoring and observability stacks including Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, and Splunk - Familiarity with Kafka, Apigee, Tomcat, and Nginx in production environments - Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills Why Join Us Citi is one of the world's leading global banks, offering a dynamic work environment where you can make a meaningful impact on large-scale financial technology systems.
